So as you can tell since school ended on June 18, I have had a pretty rough life-- Phillies games, baby showers, bachlorette parties, grad parties, a shore trip, and the latest - a retirement party at Knoebels. Last Friday - my family and a bunch of the Jackson side of Mich's family met at Knoebels to celebrate Aunt Sandy's retirement. It must have been hard for girl (Anut) to get out of bed since she has been sleeping in for the past year, hahaha. Christa, Greg's wife, made a collage of old Kid's Week/Knoebels mems.. I had to take a picture of some of them for the Kienzle girls to see (we missed them!)
Jess and Heather, guessing this is around 1995??
A little Heather munching on a snack - looking like she got caught? This looks like it's from Lake Jean. Unfourtnately, there were no old solo shots of Mel to post. (maybe I'll have to dig some up for a later entry!)
Our first ride was the Phoenix. It was actually faster than I remembered-- we kept flying out of the seats. Here are Kevin & Marissa going up the hill!

After everyone got their tickets - Aunt S wanted to get a big group to go on the Skloosh. It's like a big log flume and as you can see you get soakkedd!! In photo: Mike, Mich, Skylar (Bryan's daughter), Joyce, Beth H, Sandy, Ray, Kevin, and Marissa. Hopefully I did a sufficient job on the labeling!
The retiree and I enjoying our rough summer life style!
We took a ton of pictures in front of the clown.. I'm not going to include them all. Here is a Kid's Week 20 yrs later pic. We deeply missed Heather & Melanie for this... can you guess who is who?? We have: Aunt Sandy, Mike, Kevin, Jess, Kristin, Greg (in back), Jason (behind Mich), Mich, and Bryan all the way on the end.
Love the color feature on my camera. Here is my dad and the clown - accenting the red (go phils!)

Marissa on the bumper cars -- we did this 2 or 3 times in a row. It got a little fiesty! If you look behind Marissa you can see Beth in action in the background (this was her fave ride!)

As I stated, bumper cars was Beth's fave ride of the day. However, we did have a casuality. As you can see in this picture Beth's sunglasses are still fixated on the top of her head. The first round they fell off but she caught them. The second time, she wasn't so lucky. I crashed into her and the shades fell onto the ground. (guess she didn't learn her lesson!) My dad & I both tried to pick them up but it was too hard w/all the cars. Sadly, by the end of the ride her glasses ended up smashed all over the ground. Hope this is a lesson for all you bumper car riders out there!
Beth wants you to visit Knoebels (and challenge her to a bumper car ride!)
Ward family - Christa, baby Oliver, Greg, Peyton, Jess, Mike, & Judy.
Baby Oliver even said we should have a yearly trip to Knoebels!
Harrison family & Marissa
Hopefully next time, I'll have a pic of the Piersons & Kienzles (Romios & Roberts) doing this pose!
Aunt Sandy and her whole clan that showed up for the retirement bash-- minus Marissa who was nice enough to take the pic. We have her in a shot, but it's on my dad's camera - he says he'll be blogging it soon (meaning we may wait years before we see it!)

Sweet cake for Anut
Beth was the cake cutter and surprisingly (or not) wiped all the leftover icing on her plate! She then said she felt sick, but somehow still managed to woof it down!
Stay tuned for more of my summer stories-- this weekend is my friend Tina's wedding and then I'll be heading to the shore. Also, on a different note, I signed up for my first half marathon today, The Philadelphia Rock N' Roll 1/2 Marathon on September 19. So far, I have no one wants to join me.. so any takers would be appreciated :)
Another great post, Kristin!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for signing up for the 1/2 Marathon - I bet you'll love it.
Good job, Kristin. I just checked Representin' Chalfont; why do I bother?
ReplyDeleteHaha maybe he'll post from the ship ;)
ReplyDeleteWish we coulda been there! For some reason I still remember the time I puked on ParrotTrooper(?) and they used kitty litter to clean it! HA!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am not too disappointed that you couldn't find any old photos of me!!!
