An attempt at updating

Well I guess I can sadly say my blog has been taking after Unclerayfrompa's blog. Work has been really busy and each night I come home I feel like I am doing school work, or have grad school/hw for that, or want to get to the gym, or am just plain lazy, so therefore the blog took a back seat. Since I last posted (about 6 weeks ago)..some of the highlights in my life have been: the shore, OCMD for a long weekend, Phils games & tailgating (even one in NY), started working (not too sure if that's a highlight), and was in my friend Ashley's wedding. I just tried posting pictures from these events, but blogger isn't cooperating! Unfourtnately, I guess you will have to wait a little longer..

Hard at work

I have been setting up my classroom for about 3 hours - mainly all I have done is set up the computers/internet, hang a few things, make a productive phone call, and check my email about 9238932 times... I thought I'd show a pic of my work in progress! I was already asked by the janitor why I'm wearing a Giants shirt? He said "your boyfriend must be a fan" - I told him my cousins live there and they are probably my 2nd fave team in baseball. And he said "you better just hope they don't think that means New York Giants" and I said I'd never like any New York team! haha. Anyway, as you can tell by my picture, I need to get back to work and do some things. I am leaving in about 45 mins for the Phils game. Good thing the kids don't come until Tuesday!

Are Phillies fans the only ones who tailgate?

On Saturday - Joe, Laura, and I went down to the Phillies game for a day of tailgating & the game. Joe's dad gave us tickets again (he still hasn't been to a game and has season tickets). We had a 4th ticket but could not find a friend to join us! During our tailgate we were wondering - are Phillies fans the only baseball fans that tailgate? We know that New Yorkers don't, I didn't see any San Francisco fans tailgating, Laura said Baltimore doesn't... it is just a weird concept! It is such a popular (& fun) thing here, I would think more places would do it! I am hoping we get to plan one more Saturday with a group of people to go down. I'm actually going to the game again tonight - it's Chooch (Carlos Ruiz) bobble head night! Kevin can't go so he gave my dad and I the tickets. This will be my 3rd game in the week; I don't have tickets to any more games of the season though.

I am sure all you bakers/artists are cringing at this picture b/c I was having trouble writing w/the icing pen. Next time I hope to do better.




We were "serious" tailgaters this time and were prepared w/all the necessary supplies - chairs, big table, grill, coolers, ladder ball... too bad it was just the 3 of us (you can get an effect of how "crowded" it was when we first got there.



Joe was put in charge of being grill master.

Beer pong is a little hard w/3 people.. so Laura & I decided to be on a team and let Joe play by himself!



We figured he'd be fine since he was a chugging champ in college :)





After a game or 2 of beer pong, we inticed Joe to go chat with this bachlorette party. We had this big table and wanted to play flip cup, so had to make friends!Here are Joe & Laura with "banana" silly bands the bach party gave them!

All in all it was a fun day - at least the tailgating part. The Phils lost to the Nationals 8-1.. boo. Enjoy the posts while they last cause school is starting up soon. I had to go yesterday for meetings, but don't report full time until Monday. Have to go now so I can set up the classroom a little & blogger is being weird!

When I realized the Phils & Giants series was this week, I asked Joe to see if his dad had tickets to one of the games (they have season tickets) b/c I wanted to see the Giants & talk smack. Joe's dad gave us the tickets (thank you!!!) for Tuesday night. Me, my dad, Tapsy, & Tina went. It was an awesome game (especially for Philadelphia!)... they even commented how it was like a "playoff-like atmosphere." It was extra special b/c it was the return of my fave, CHASE UTLEY!! Phils started off losing 2-0, but came back to win 9-3!! I was a little disapointed b/c I did not get any texts/tweets from cuz-in-law, Vernie! (and we know, he can text and operate heavy machinery, HAHA).

Joe is a godfather!

Last weekend, Joe and I went to the shore (wildwood) for the weekend. His aunt & uncle, who recently adopted a baby from China, were also visiting. They had asked Joe to be the godfather, which is exciting. Lauren (the baby), is his youngest cousin, approx. 8 months, and he is the oldest - 26 years! This was the first time I met the baby - she was so cute. Too bad Baby O isn't around to be her playmate!

Bloom at the Beach

I'm finally getting around to add the rest of the pictures from OCMD / Bloom at the Beach reunion! I have been busy watching the Phils beat the Giants- haha ;) Also ran 9 miles today -- I have 4 more weeks until my half marathon. Anyway- back to OCMD.. Friday night we went out to watch Mr. Greengenes - it's a cover band we loveee (they play at Phillies games once in awhile and at other events).

Fast forward to Saturday night, and here we are again back at Seacrets. This time there were no tubes/water -- that portion closes at 7pm. The whole place is pretty big though. The BU reunion was from 7-9pm.. it was open bar & appetizers; we even had our own little area! I got an email saying this was the biggest turnout (I think it was the 3rd year they did it) - over 100 people came w/graduates from like 1985 to 2010. This is def. going to become an annual event for me! (I may have mentioned that in my last post). We have even been trying to find a cheap place in OCMD for Labor Day b/c we had so much fun!

Shock, they started their night off with a shot. I believe a lemon drop? It was surprising that we were even allowed to get shots (usually at open bars they don't allow this!)

Dana just got engaged to one of my friends, Steve, that I swam with. I also swam with her older brother & her older sister helped coached me-- they all went to Bloom. So good to see her again!

Flashback to Columbia Hall, our all girls dorm, freshmen year. Jenn lived down the hall from Lizzy & I.

They gave away door prizes and Dana got a BU tee.

Almost 9 pm... the boy swimmers told us they came last year and when the open bar was close to over they ordered a bunch of drinks and "stock piled" them on a table for the rest of the night. Lizzy is getting her share of Bud Lights for the crowd!

Tara w/the night's stockpile. Again, we found it odd that the bar would let us even order 6 or 8 drinks at a time and walk off and put them on this ledge. I think the stockpile will be a tradition at this event.

Sunday, after a lovely day at the beach, we went to a delicious sea food buffet to wrap up our wonderful weekend!

Taps & Danielle were twins in salmon.

I am chosing not to put mine and Tara's matching picture up -- we looked like we gained about 20 lbs after the weekend. FYI: we did not all plan this little matching scheme.

On a final note, I highly recommend OCMD to those of all ages!!
